This isn’t necessarily a moment, but rather a pattern I’m starting to see that I hope doesn’t go into full implementation. Lately, the education system has been getting worse over and over the years. And part of it is because schools are now passing kids that are not able to read on grade level and let alone have the attention spans for activities such as just simply watching movies. I am struggling to understand why we as a society are allowing kids to continue falling under the concept of learned helplessness. As progress through education that has now shown itself to be simply just flawed on all accounts. Kids cannot think for themselves anymore and critical thinking is now shown to be slowly on the verge of being a myth. People blame parents for kids being so uncontrolled in public school environments but it’s not just the parents to blame, some of them genuinely just don’t have the time to help their kids with homework and such due to them simply being busy with taking care of their family, so it sadly creates an accidental form of neglect, as kids lean on electronics or gadgets to bide their time. Which then kids take those learned behaviors to school for teachers to deal with. I wonder if society will get to the point where people will outsource their brains completely to AI, creating a completely dependent society that simply just can’t think for themselves. Not to put all people under the same lens, as there are many who are still more than determined than ever to grow their knowledge and make AI work for them and not the other way around. The overall premise is that society as a whole is leaning towards working for the AI, and it makes me question if reality in terms of just thinking is regressing to no return. I hope this is not the case, but I personally think that the education is getting worse, and I wish it was just that but even things now like jobs are becoming like a flex to have, as the job market is heading towards a recession. All in all, current society is currently making me question can we really come back from this, because we have been snowballing with little to no pushback or change and it saddens me to see it.
